Welcome and thank you for your interest in contributing to Ottica TV.
Submitting your Movie (*new 1-2011):
Please read the 'About Ottica TV' info first to get an idea about the Channel.
The restrictions are - Submit no more than 2 movies : Total length of all movies together 10 mins.
Entry is by invitation or selection from submissions. It is free to send in your movies. Once on Ottica, each artist has a separate webpage on the Channel that links to their movie. All the information for the movies you contribute stays on this page as an archive. Forward links to the artist's personal webpage will be included at the bottom under 'Further Information'.
From time to time we do a call for various screening events including our annual screening in Bankside, London - usually in March. As Ottica is a project site we hope contributors will be able to participate in these events.
Format :
You can send your movie in most commonly used compressed formats MPEG, MOV, WMV, etc. and I will do the conversion to Flash Video (*.FLV) that the Channel uses. Everything will be converted to 720 pixels width and 500 bps so files should be at least this quality. Feel free to send in HD files.
Please only send in movies as single files - i.e. not as DVD files (INFO, VOB, etc.) or those conversions that generate separate video and audio files.
How to send in your Movie:
*Please do not send your movie as an e-mail attach*
The movie should be sent only by FTP as my mail server space is limited. There are several good free FTP facilities at i.e. Dropsend (www.dropsend.com), SendSpace (www.sendspace.com) or use your own facility if you have one. The e-mail address you need to do the FTP is the same...ottica@a2arts.co.uk.
Information to go with your submission - send this by e-mail attach to ottica@a2arts.co.uk:
- A movie still - about 800 x 600 pixels @ 72dpi JPEG - titled i.e.: 'myname_mymovie_still.jpg'
- A movie thumbnail - 80 x 60 pixels @ 72dpi JPEG - titled i.e.: 'myname_mymovie_thumb.jpg'
- Movie title - 30 characters max - including spaces.
- Short text - 20 words max - including run-time and copyright info - example as follows - 05:00 ©MyName 2008
- Your name and contact (e-mail) details.
- Which Stream you would like to appear in:
Art Projects : Gallery Installations and Performative
Narrative : Dialogue and Threads
Observations : Experiential and Existential
Do bear in mind that the whole Channel is defined as Contemporary Art. - (Optional) 4 keywords as search criteria
- (Optional) Web address (URL) to your Homepage or any webpage you may have describing the movie.
- (Optional) Longer text describing your movie up to about 250 words.

For existing contributors to the Channel :
As above for new contributors but please state which movies you wish to replace. The still and text for this movie will stay on your artist page.
Your movie on the Channel
Once your movie is uploaded you will be e-mailed so you can proof check everything is OK. Movies will be put on the Channel as they arrive and are randomly sequenced in the line-up thereafter.
Disclaimer: Ottica sets out with the intention of being open minded about submissions. However, the usual conditions relating to offensive content apply. We reserve the right to classify or decline to broadcast content for whatever reason or to close the Channel, either on our own account or on advice from the hosting company. Likewise contributors are free to withdraw their content at any time.
